Makeup Styling with Emily Frew

Since our business is better pictures, we must explore all of the tools at our disposal to make a photograph better. While equipment is helpful, a frequently neglected and often powerful tool is the use of styling. Good styling is like good style- it accentuates the person and personality without replacing them. In this, styling has less obvious benefits, one of my favorite the confidence that comes from it. Photography subjects who are styled feel better fortified to be photographed, and bring more confidence and dignity as a result.

Since good styling is not just painting, but a matter of dignity and taste, we’ve started ongoing collaborations with Emily Frew Makeup Artistry who uses her considerable talents to prepare people for the camera with dignity and respect. She’s a delightful person to sit and be styled by.

This year, Kristina worked with Emily on a themed shoot referencing 80’s Glam, which was great fun, as 80’s Glam was and is. Endless Management and Unique Models and Talent provided some of their talented models, Emily worked with Cameron Sterling, Candace Lefke, and Chandelle Lescay to prepare the models for the camera.

Similarly, Adam worked on a 20’s themed shoot, because why not go through the decades? Again, Endless provided on-camera talent and Emily and Shawn Lavngood, Molly Tiesma, and Chandelle Lescay styled everybody. Stay tuned for more of these shoots to come.
