Being an inner-city principal is considered by many people to be an unenviable job. Poor pay, taxed staff and highly stressed kids, with little refuge from the world at home needing more than an education at school.
Yet, in spite of the odds and stereotypes, Innovation High School Principal Mark Frost stands up for the kids at his high school every day. Fortunately for the kids and the world at large, there are a wide number of unsung community champions doing this with Mark. Everybody works and give in their own way, and Mark starts of every day by shaking the hand of every student at his school willing to reciprocate with him.
This is something that we can all learn from. Every day Mark starts off school by giving the students some respect, and some dignity. These are both much easier to give when the giving is reciprocated, earning Mark dignity and the respect of those around him.
