A few years ago, there was little support in Grand Rapids for young professionals, and many moved away after college. But in 2004, Grand Rapids Young Professionals (GRYP) was formed, creating opportunities for ages 21-40 to build relationships with each other, network with business leaders, grow in professional development and become more engaged in volunteer and community service projects.
Everyone in GRYP, including the Board of Directors, works solely on a volunteer basis, and membership is completely free. Members can attend monthly meetings, classes in business leadership, along with other events and activities. GRYP has helped enormously in keeping recent college graduates in Grand Rapids and creating a space in the community for young professionals. They have promoted an environment that retains talent and helps grow the next generation of business leaders.
I recently had the pleasure of taking head shots for some GRYP members. Take a look at the next generation of professionals! If you're interested in joining or supporting GRYP, more information is provided on their website.
